Mary Catherine Krumrey (November 19, 1942 - July 21, 2012)
Mary Krumrey moved to Burlington 20 years ago from Grayslake, IL. She recently returned there to be near her children as her cancer progressed. Mary joined our club and volunteered in many positions. She was chair person for our sunshine and hospitality committee, 2 years each. She helped Joan Jones with our monthly programs and volunteered at many of our past garden walks, along with working at our spring plant sales.
Mary served as our recording secretary and president of our club, as well as co-chair of the 2009 garden walk. As a Master Gardener, Mary worked her volunteer hours in the Legacy Garden, the Vintage Garden and Harvest of Hope. Mary's retired husband, Eddie, is their full time gardener. She assisted him working in their shade gardens on Joseph Court in Burlington. Mary was also instrumental in bringing the Burlington Area Garden Club and the American Legion together in planting a garden around the Veteran Memorial Statue in the Burlington Cemetery. The garden circles the monument on a raised bed. The club members continue to plant and tend the garden of perennials and annual flowers and bushes. Mary will be greatly missed by the Garden Club.
